AMTEC has long been connected to the world of sailing, with a strong commitment to nurturing and empowering young South African sailors. Over the years, the company has remained passionate about giving back to the sport by supporting development programmes and creating opportunities for emerging talent across the country.
In 2014, AMTEC played a key role in supporting Wits University when they participated in and successfully completed the Cape to Rio Yacht Race aboard Amtec Wits Aladdin, skippered by Bradley Robinson and crewed by a novice crew made up entirely of students from Wits University.
In addition to sailing, AMTEC has extended its support to the development of young motorsport talent. The late Anthony Shelley competed in the National Circuit Motorcycle Championship at various circuits across South Africa, while Tyron Nel received AMTEC’s backing during his participation in the 125cc and 250cc classes of the National Motocross Championships.
